Luis Majano presenting for Bay Area ColdFusion User Group on ColdBox

Luis Majano was kind enough to present on ColdBox for the Bay Area ColdFusion User Group last week.  I've been gone on vacation. So, I just got the recording posted.  You can check it out here.

Mango Blog Skinning Start to Finish

Did my presentation for the ColdFusion Meetup today.  I think it went well.  20 people showed up which is pretty good for a part two of a presentation.  Good questions and interaction during the meetup.

The recording can be found here.  http://experts.na3.acrobat.com/p29652303/

Mango Blog Basics Presentation for ColdFusion Meetup

Last week I presented for the ColdFusion Meetup group on Mango Blog Basics.

You can watch it here. https://admin.na3.acrobat.com/_a204547676/p35141982/

About two months ago I was in need of a Blogging engine that could compare to WordPress.  As luck would have it, I saw a message on Linked in about Mango Blog.  I was immediately impressed with the plug-ins and themes available.

I've not launched three sites on Mango Blog.  (one with a WordPress Theme modified, one custom design and one common template with a logo added).  You can see them at...

More on the way.  Also, i'll be presenting on Mango Blog Skinning Start to Finish on Sept 24, 2009 at http://coldfusionmeetup.com

Error coldfusion coldfusion.image. ImageWriter$ImageWritingException with Captcha

I'd been using Captcha on my site using ColdFusion 8 for some time without any problems.  For some reason, still unknown to me the following error began appearing.

coldfusion coldfusion.image.ImageWriter$ImageWritingException

My solution was to add a destination="images/myCapcha.jpg"  overwrite="yes" to the <cfimage> tag and I was back in business.

First ColdFusion 9 Book on the Market

Well, not really on the market... yet.  It's a pre order from amazon.

I found it interesting the title Foundation ColdFusion 9 for Flash.  Could be a sign of things to come.  Let's get more Flash, Flex and Designers on board with ColdFusion 9.  The latest features like ORM support and tags in Flex 4 that look a lot like ColdFusion tags could be the bridge to bring fresh blood into the ColdFusion Community.

*********** UPDATE ***********

Shortly after this post I was alerted that the book was no longer available from Amazon.  I contacted the publisher and just found out the book was cancelled.  No reason is known.

What the take away is?  We need more ColdFusion 9 books that focus on the many ways CF can be used.  ColdFusion 9 and Flex.  ColdFusion 9 and AJAX.   ColdFusion 9 powered mobile apps.
